Whistler Mountain Wedding Elopement Video Shoot
As a wedding videographer, I've been to some pretty amazing places, but nothing quite compares to last month when I filmed a tiny elopement on Whistler Mountain.
Before all wedding shoots theres a slight anxiousness as I think of all the possibilities and opportunities for things to go wrong. What items of gear could I have forgotten? Were all those battery chargers definitely working last night? Its a lot of pressure, to not ruin a couples big day, and make sure their video looks as good as it can. These niggling concerns grew as I stood at the bottom of a rather imposing mountain. Its one thing running to a car to grab a piece back up camera gear, but being basically marooned on a mountaintop is another beast. Fortunately all those fears melted away once I met the couple. They were both buzzing with excitement, and it was contagious.
Getting ready in the hotel
We hopped on the gondola and began our journey up. As we climbed higher, the views became more and more stunning, with endless mountains and forests stretching out beneath us. The local wildlife even made an appearance to say hello.

At the top, it felt like we were on top of the world. The couple looked immaculate, (albeit not completely practical for slugging it up a mountainside!) and exchanged their vows with just the mountains and us vendors as witnesses. It was incredibly personal and moving. There were no elaborate decorations or big crowds—just two people deeply in love, promising their lives to each other. I moved around them, capturing every smile, tear, and loving glance. The natural beauty of the surroundings added to the intimacy of the moment, and made my job very easy.

Clear blue skies with endless mountains
The whole scene was just perfect. The wind was gently blowing, the sun was shining brightly, and there was this incredible feeling of peace and joy in the air that can only be felt on mountaintop. The heat added a touch of adventure to the day, as did the champagne toast in famous peak-to-peak gondola, making it feel like we were on an epic quest to document their love story. It was a reminder that sometimes, the most special moments come when you strip away all the extras and just focus on what really matters.
Riding the peak-to-peak gondola from Blackcomb to Whistler mountain
As we made our way back down the mountain, sweating but smiling, I couldn’t stop thinking about how amazing the experience had been. It was such a privilege to be a part of their day and to capture their love story in such a unique and beautiful way. The video turned out to be a beautiful testament to their love and the start of their new journey together.

Days like this are why I love being a wedding videographer. It’s not just about filming a wedding—it's about capturing the essence of two people in love, whilst exploring this stunning part of the world and there’s nothing more rewarding than that.
